About external wall waterproofing
Roughly 2,200 mm of rain falls here in about ninety days, most of it driven horizontally by sea wind. External walls on the windward elevation take far more water than the terrace does per square foot. Cracks are cut and filled, junctions sealed, and an elastomeric coating applied that bridges hairline movement.

External Wall Waterproofing — questions
Which elevation leaks most?
The one facing the monsoon wind, typically south-west in Mumbai. It takes substantially more water than the others and is where treatment should start if the budget is phased.
Is painting enough?
No. Standard exterior emulsion is not a waterproofing system and will not bridge a crack. An elastomeric coating over properly treated cracks is a different specification and a different cost.

Terrace Waterproofing
A terrace leak is rarely above the stain. Water travels sideways under a failed screed before it drops.
